Strategies for reducing the embodied carbon and maximizing the stored carbon include: reusing the existing foundation, rigid wood fiber exterior insulation, interior insulation of dense packed cellulose, wood and Richlite cladding and interior finishes. High-performance methodologies and systems include: air-tight envelope, continuous exterior insulation, triple-paned windows, Zehnder HRV, SANCO2 heat pump water heater (paired with the Harvest Thermal pod) for DHW and under slab heat.
