Here, we shine a spotlight on Chloe Guenther, who joined our woodshop two years ago.
Before finding construction, Chloe worked as a picture framer. Her mom was actually the one who suggested she’d be a good finish carpenter. About five years ago, she started asking around and, through her connections, found a construction company hiring. During the inteview she asked the owner if he was hesitant to hire a woman. He said that was actually why he wanted to hire her, along with her determination and skill set.
Her first day on the job, she met Paul, her mentor. “He was my Yoda. He taught me everything,” she said.
Looking back on her jump into carpentry, she explained, “They took a chance on me, and it worked out. It was just one of the best decisions ever.”
After working as a finish carpenter, she joined Bucktide’s cabinet shop about two years ago. One of the best things about working in the woodshop? “Problem-solving. You just have to get creative to make everything fit together. It's a great mental exercise,” said Chloe.
Alex sings Chloe’s praises, “Chloe has grown into her role and become our in-house finishes expert. Her attention to detail is well-suited to shopwork. She’s also friends with the whole crew and hosts a banger of a Halloween party.”
